Angewandte Chemie 2/2018: Eliminate and Maximize

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, P. R. Blakemore and R. W. Hoffmann review the formation of olefins by eliminative dimerization and cross-coupling of carbenoids. What roles does stereochemistry play? The Highlight deals with chiral gold(III) complexes in asymmetric catalysis (J. Rodriguez, D. Bourissou).

In the Communications section, A. J. Baeumer et al. show how electrochemiluminescence bioassays with a water-soluble luminol derivative can outperform fluorescence assays (see picture). S. Sun et al. maximized the catalytic activity of nanoparticles through monolayer assembly on nitrogen-doped graphene. M. R. Seyedsayamdost et al. found crochelins to be siderophones with an unprecedented iron-chelating moiety from a nitrogen-fixing bacterium.
