In this issue, G. Van Tendeloo et al. review the 3D characterization of noble-metal nanoparticles and their assemblies by electron tomography. In the Communications section, F. X. Gomis-Rüth et al. demonstrate how multiple stable conformations account for reversible oligomerization and autoinhibition of a metamorphic metallopeptidase (see picture). M. V. Fedin et al. observed ultrafast photoswitching in a copper nitroxide based molecular magnet. H. S. Choi et al. present phosphonated near-infrared fluorophores for bone imaging, and V. K. Singh et al. report on an entry to enantiomerically enriched isoindolinones.
