GDCh Prize Nominations Open

The call for tenders for the 2011 GDCh prizes is now open.
Submit your proposals until October 15, 2010.

The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh, German Chemical Society) will confer the following awards in 2011:

Adolf-von-Baeyer-Denkmünze


For exceptional and recently published work in the field of organic chemistry. The prize is endowed with the medal and € 7.500.


Joseph-König-Gedenkmünze


For recognition of special contributions to the scientific development and the advancement of food chemistry. The prize is endowed with the medal and € 7.500.


Wilhelm-Klemm-Preis


For recognition of oustanding research in the field of inorganic chemistry.
The prize is endowed with the medal € 7.500.


Carl-Duisberg-Gedächtnispreis

For recognition of outstanding junior faculty members in the chemical sciences.
The prize is endowed with € 5.000 for the recipient and € 2.500 for the recipient’s research group.


Horst-Pracejus-Preis

For recognition of outstanding work in the field of enantioselectivity and chirality.
The prize is endowed with € 7.500.


Fresenius-Preis


For recognition of special contributions to analytical chemistry.
The prize is endowed with the medal and € 7.500.


Wöhler-Preis für Ressourcenschonende Prozesse

For recognition of achievements in basic or applied research in all areas of chemistry which improve the responsible use of resources or lead to ecologically more benign processes. The prize is endowed with € 7.500.

Nomination procedure

Members and non-members of the GDCh are welcome to make proposals. Self-nomination is not allowed. Propsals shall consist of a letter of nomination (one page) and a link to the homepage of the nominated person.

The GDCh Prizes acknowledge outstanding achievements for and within chemistry. Accordingly, the achievements of the prize winner, rather than experience or age of the nominee, will be decisive in the decision-making process. As progress in science can often follow unusal pathways, nominations that cross interdisciplinary borders, open up surprising new perspectives, or which at first glance are difficult to classify, are particularly welcome.
