Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, C. M. Williams et al. review natural products with anti-Bredt and bridgehead double bonds. Should they be considered anti-Bredt candidates at all? The Highlight deals with thiyl radicals in additions and asymmetric catalysis. In his Editorial, T. Geelhaar, President of the German Chemical Society (GDCh), emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary and international developments in chemistry.

In the Communications section, T. Schäfer et al. demonstrate control of an electron-transfer reaction at a metal surface through the manipulation of reactant motion and orientation (see picture). B. Žemva et al. succeeded in the synthesis and structural characterization of [Xe2F3]+ and [XeF]+ salts. X. Jiang et al. present the identification of bacteria in water by a fluorescent array, and A. Szumna et al. describe the formation of hybrid peptidic capsules by chiral self-sorting and self-assembly.
