Bayer has launched a website, cropscience-transparency.bayer.com, designed to give access to scientific data of their plant protection products, which was previously only shared with authorities. With this step, the company wants to drive transparency, while safeguarding the company’s confidential product composition and manufacturing process data and hopes to foster an open, science-based dialogue on crop protection products.

Summaries of safety-related study reports can be found on the website for a significant number of active substances, non-commercial access to the respective safety-related study reports are granted. Background material such as videos and info-graphics are designed to help put regulatory science into context.

The company says it will update the website on a regular basis. In the next phase, which is planned for early 2018, non-commercial users will be able to request access to additional full, in-depth safety-related study reports. Furthermore, Bayer plans to add other language options to its website, for example, German.
