Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh)

The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) is the largest chemical society in continental Europe with approx. 28 000 members from academia, industry and other areas. The GDCh supports chemistry in teaching, research and application and promotes the understanding of chemistry to the public. The society, a registered charity, was founded in 1949 but builds on a long tradition that began in 1867 when its predecessor organization, the Deutsche Chemische Gesellschaft, was founded in Berlin. The GDCh is also a funding member of ChemPubSoc Europe.
