The Supervisory Board of BASF extended the appointment of BASF Chairman Dr. Kurt Bock to the Board of Executive Directors as well as his appointment as Chairman until the end of the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting in 2021. The appointment was originally scheduled to expire in 2016.

The Board also extended the appointments of Dr. Martin Brudermüller, Vice Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors; Chief Financial Officer Dr. Hans-Ulrich Engel; and Dr. Harald Schwager, member of the Board of Executive Directors, by five years.

Kurt Bock, born in Rahden, Germany, in 1958, studied business administration at the Universities of Münster and Cologne, both Germany, as well as at Pennsylvania State University, USA, and received his diploma in 1982 from the University of Cologne. In 1985, he earned his doctorate in economics from the University of Bonn, Germany.

Martin Brudermüller, born in Stuttgart in 1961, studied Chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and received his degree there in 1985. After earning his doctorate in Karlsruhe in 1987, he did a postdoc at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. 

Hans-Ulrich Engel, born in Göttingen, Germany, in 1959, studied Law at the Universities of Göttingen and Freiburg, both Germany. In 1983 he graduated from the University of Göttingen. He did his clerkship from 1984 to 1987 at the Higher Regional Court, Oldenburg, Germany, before earning his doctorate at the University of Göttingen in 1990. 

 

Harald Schwager, born in Speyer, Germany, in 1960, studied Chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and graduated there in 1984. He received his doctorate from the Max Planck Institute in Mülheim/Ruhr, Germany, in 1986. Afterwards, he did a postdoc at the University of California in Berkeley, USA.
