The Opening Ceremony of the International Year of the Periodic Table (IYPT 2019) took place at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, on 29 January. Dr. Matthias Urmann, President of the German Chemical Society (GDCh), and Dr. Hans-Georg Weinig, GDCh, joined the spectacular one-day celebration.
