Abstract Catalytic biomass conversion is often hindered by coking. Carbon compounds cover active surface and plug pores, causing catalyst deactivation. Perfluorination of one η5‐C5H5 ring in the MC10H10 system (M = Ni, Pd, Pt) to give an MC10H5F5 system greatly destabilizes structures containing a perfluorinated pentahapto η5‐C5F5 ring. Abstract Luminescence properties of the Bi(M,M′)2PO6 (M=Mg, Zn, Cd) series have been rationalized as a function of the M element using optical spectroscopy, as well as empirical and first principles calculations.
