Comparative Proteomic Analysis of Three Xanthomonas spp. Cultured in Minimal and Rich Media

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): Hye‐Jee Park, Nahee Bae, Hanbi Park, Dae‐Wi Kim, Sang‐Wook Han

Abstract Bacteria change their gene expression when exposed to different nutrient conditions. The levels of proteins do not always correlate with those of RNAs, hence proteomic analysis is required for understanding how bacteria adapt to different conditions. Herein, differentially abundant proteins from Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), X. campestris pv. vesicatoria (Xcv), and X. axonopodis pv. glycines (Xag), which were cultured in rich...

Raman‐scattering studies of pressure‐induced phase transitions in perovskite‐like acetamidninium manganese formate

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): Mirosław Mączka, Tercio Almeida Silva, Waldeci Paraguassu

Abstract We report high‐pressure Raman scattering studies of acetamidninium manganese formate, which show evidence for two pressure‐induced phase transitions between 0.7 and 1.4 GPa and above 5.3 GPa. The first transition is related to distortion of the manganese formate framework whereas the second one affects significantly the structure of the acetamidinium cation. Significant narrowing of the lattice bands suggests that...

Using Short‐Wave Infrared Radiation to Improve Aqueous Enzymatic Extraction of Peanut Oil: Evaluation of Peanut Cotyledon Microstructure and Oil Quality

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): Bo‐Xin Deng, Bo Li, Xiao‐Dan Li, Farah Zaaboul, Jiang Jiang, Jin‐Wei Li, Qiu Li, Pei‐Rang Cao, Yuan‐Fa Liu

In this study, the effects of short‐wave infrared radiation (SIR) on enzyme‐assisted aqueous extraction process (EAEP) of peanut oil (PO) are investigated, including peanuts cotyledon cells mircrostructure and yield as well as quality of extracted PO. GC‐flash electronic nose (EN) combined with principal components analysis (PCA) is applied to select conditions for SIR process. The appropriate roasting condition...

Click Chemistry Derived Pyridazines: Electron‐Deficient Building Blocks with Defined Conformation and Packing Structure

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): Irén Birkenfelder, Johannes Gurke, Lutz Grubert, Stefan Hecht, Bernd M. Schmidt

Abstract A series of 3,6‐bis(4‐triazolyl)pyridazines equipped with terminal phenyl substituents with varying degree of fluorination were synthesized by using the facile copper‐catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition and their structures were thoroughly investigated in the gas phase, in solution, and in the solid state by employing DFT calculations, NMR spectroscopy, and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, respectively. On the molecular...

In vitro metabolism of the synthetic cannabinoids CUMYL‐PINACA, 5F–CUMYL‐PINACA, CUMYL‐4CN‐BINACA, 5F–CUMYL‐P7AICA and CUMYL‐4CN‐B7AICA

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): Sandra N. Staeheli, Michael Poetzsch, Veronica P. Veloso, Michael Bovens, Christian Bissig, Andrea E. Steuer, Thomas Kraemer

Abstract Synthetic cannabinoid consumption trends underlie fast changes and provide several challenges to clinical and forensic toxicologists. Due to their extensive metabolism, parent compounds are hardly detectable in urine. Therefore, knowledge of the metabolism of synthetic cannabinoids is essential to allow their detection in biological matrices. The aim of the present study was the elucidation of the metabolism of...

Submicron Raman spectroscopy mapping of serpentinite fault rocks

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): Jeremy S. Rooney, Matthew S. Tarling, Steven A.F. Smith, Keith C. Gordon

Abstract Submicron Raman spectroscopy mapping is able to unambiguously distinguish the main serpentine minerals within their in situ microstructural context. The high spatial resolution (~370 nm), large‐area coverage (up to hundreds of micrometres in each dimension), and ability to map directly on polished thin sections allows novel interpretations to be made regarding the nature and evolution of serpentinite fault rock...

The MOF + Technique: A Significant Synergic Effect Enables High Performance Chromate Removal

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): Ming Biao Luo, Yang Yang Xiong, Hui Qiong Wu, Xue Feng Feng, Jian Qiang Li, Feng Luo

Abstract A significant synergic effect between a metal–organic framework (MOF) and Fe2SO4, the so‐called MOF+ technique, is exploited for the first time to remove toxic chromate from aqueous solutions. The results show that relative to the pristine MOF samples (no detectable chromate removal), the MOF+ method enables super performance, giving a 796 Cr mg g−1 adsorption capacity. The value is almost eight‐fold higher than the best value of established MOF...

Die direkte katalytische Oxidation von Methan zu Methanol – eine kritische Beurteilung

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): Manoj Ravi, Marco Ranocchiari, Jeroen A. van Bokhoven

Benziodoxole Triflate as a Versatile Reagent for Iodo(III)cyclization of Alkynes

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): Bin Wu, Junliang Wu, Naohiko Yoshikai

Abstract The utility of benziodoxole triflate, derived from α,α‐bis(trifluoromethyl)‐2‐iodobenzyl alcohol, as a versatile reagent for iodo(III)cyclization via electrophilic activation of alkyne, is reported herein. The reagent promotes cyclization of alkynes tethered to a variety of nucleophilic moieties, affording benziodoxole‐appended (hetero)arenes such as benzofurans, benzothiophenes, isocoumarins, indoles, and polyaromatics...

Emergence of Aspergillus fumigatus azole resistance in azole‐naïve patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and their homes

Published: 20 November 2017

Author(s): C. Dauchy, N. Bautin, S. Nseir, G. Reboux, R. Wintjens, O. Le Rouzic, B. Sendid, E. Viscogliosi, P. Le Pape, M. C. Arendrup, P. Gosset, S. Fry, E. Fréalle

Abstract Azole‐resistant Aspergillus fumigatus (ARAF) has been reported in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) but has not been specifically assessed so far. Here, we evaluated ARAF prevalence in azole‐naïve COPD patients and their homes, and assessed whether CYP51A mutations were similar in clinical and environmental reservoirs. Sixty respiratory samples from 41 COPD patients with acute exacerbation and...
