Direct Evidence of a Photoinduced Electron Transfer in Diluted “Molybdenum‐Copper” Molecular Compounds

For the first time, direct evidence of a photoinduced intramolecular electron transfer has been found in the “molybdenum‐copper“ family of cyanide complexes that corresponds to a [MoIV–CuII]→[MoV–CuI] transition. This work discusses a new heterobimetallic nickel(II)–copper(II) complex of the formula [Ni(tpa)Cu(opba)]2·6H2O (1) {H4opba = N,N′‐1,2‐phenylenebis(oxamic acid) and tpa = tris(2‐pyridylmethyl)amine}.
