Weekly Newsletter
Dear Readers,
In recent nights, the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis could be seen in many places across Europe. Of course, this fascinating natural phenomenon doesn’t happen without chemistry. You can learn a bit more about other planets and chemistry in space in this ChemistryViews Collection, or check out a small selection in this newsletter under “Good to Know”.
🛰️ Staying in space, EMPA (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology) just reported that an international research team has developed the methods and technologies that will allow European satellites, for the first time, to provide detailed emission maps of greenhouse gases and air pollutants, down to individual power plants and industrial facilities.
📰 cOAlition S, the organization that launched the Plan S open access scolarly publishing initiative in 2018, has reaffirmed its commitment to full and immediate open access for scholarly publications and issued a new strategic plan for 2026–2030. The plan emphasises transparency, equity, reliability of science, and infrastructure support, while also recognizing the need to develop sustainable, inclusive models of publishing in a changing scholarly‑communication environment.
☕ Grab a coffee and enjoy reading and discovering, and feel free to share what you’d like to read about in upcoming newsletters.🌟
