The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an educational and partly cultural-social activity where high school students from around the globe take part in. The national teams consist of four students representing their country, alongside with two mentors. Furthermore, scientific observers may join the teams. The teams will be given two examinations in chemistry: one of them is a written examination, the other one is a practical exam involving laboratory experiments. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded.

The ultimate goal of the activity is to bring together young students with an interest in chemistry from as many countries as possible.
