Participants are invited to submit proposals for technologies that provide efficient, chemically based, stationary energy storage. The successful technology will store energy for stationary applications, have a chemical basis for energy storage, safely store energy and release it as electricity, and be less expensive, or more efficient, than existing energy storage options (for example, show potential for reduced investment costs).

This project of NineSigma, representing BASF, is focused solely on energy storage for stationary applications. Technologies that address only energy generation/collection are not in scope.

Up to five winners will each win a 100,000 EUR prize. Participants may have the potential opportunity to collaborate with BASF in a research project based on their idea.

The competition is open for proposals from now to June 2, 2015. Winners will be announced in November, 2015.
