In addition to their particular measuring tasks, today’s sensors must be able to make independent process decisions as well as to control and optimize processes in real time. For this purpose, it is important that the sensors are capable of complex signal processing, self-diagnosis, and independent validity testing, are able to evaluate, summarize and pass on information about themselves and the environment as well as making decisions on this basis. At the conference, experts from academia and industry, suppliers, and users will discuss how smart sensors can promote "biotechnology 4.0".
