IUPAC invits scientists and students around the world to join in the 2nd Global Women’s Breakfast. The event is titled "Empowering Women in Chemistry: A Global Networking Event". Organizations of all types, e.g., universities, companies, national chemistry societies, government laboratories, and other scientific organizations, as well as individual groups of chemists, participate. Below you can find an event in Weinheim, Germany.

The Global Women’s Breakfast is expected to assist women chemists in expanding their network of contacts, perhaps leading to new career opportunities for research, employment, or education. The 1st IUPAC Global Women's Breakfast was held in February 2019.

Wiley-VCH Breakfast Symposium: Empowering Women in Chemistry

What does a fair research and publishing landscape look like?

Guest speakers Professors Sonja Herres-Pawlis (RWTH Aachen), Doris Kunz (Universität Tübingen), Ulrike Kramm (TU Darmstadt), and Dr. Hildegard Nimmesgern (Frankfurt) will share their unique perspectives as a basis for stimulating discussion. Video messages from female researchers worldwide will also be broadcast.

Most importantly, we want to hear from you:

  • Have you wondered why the majority of speakers at conferences are men?
  • Why are there so few female professors of chemistry?
  • Is it challenging to have a career in academia and be a mother?
  • Do you perceive a gender bias in publishing?

Our goal is to empower the next generation of women in chemistry.

Join us – all are welcome to discuss key challenges for female chemists. Register by 17 January 2020 at bit.ly/ewc2020
The event is free of charge for all attendees and breakfast will be provided.
