The workshop has been established by the Water Chemistry Society (Chairman: Prof. Dr. Torsten C. Schmidt) and its expert committee "Plastics in the aquatic environment" to provide a forum for young scientists focused on microplastics research. This interdisciplinary approach should aid the development of comprehensive knowledge on all aspects of water chemistry and water quality.
