Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue’s first Review, T. Fäcke et al. discuss concepts for the next generation of optical–holographic data storage matrials. In a second Review, A. Hillisch et al. suggest that oral, direct thrombin, and factor Xa inhibitors may replace warfarin, leeches, and pig intestines. In a Minireview, O. S. Wolfbeis et al. explain how to design nanoparticles that can be used as nanothermometers. T. Amatov and U. Jahn highlight the perhaloalkylation of metal enolates.

In the Communications section, J. J. Sabatini et al. show that boron carbide can serve as a green colorant in fireworks (see picture). J. Yang and J. Y. Ying succeeded in the production of binary, ternary, and quaternary hybrid nanocomposites by successively depositing noble metals onto Ag2S nanoparticles. T. Hayashi et al. describe a Mizoroki–Heck reaction mediated by potassium tert-butoxide.
