Tips for Video Shooting

Some very simple tips for beginners on how to improve your video to give you a better chance at the Element Video Competition.

  • Before you start filming, you should write down your ideas that you want to implement. As you proceed with filming more and more ideas will come to your mind. A rough plan helps to edit all scenes in a logical order.
  • Using slow motion and time-lapse while filming will help you to get a few special effects in your video. These simple effects look very impressive in the video itself if you capture the right pictures while using them.
  • The scenes themselves can be filmed easily with a camera or a mobile phone.
  • To make the video clips look good, you should pay attention to the lighting. Bright daylight is sufficient to show your content in the best quality.
  • To avoid blurred images, it is recommended to place your phone or camera on a solid surface.
  • Self-explanatory clips are best, because in a short video you don’t want to have to read a lot of text. The text only distracts from the clips you filmed.
  • The video clips can then be easily edited on the computer using Apple’s iMovie or the Windows 10 Photos App, for example. Both are easy to understand and there are a lot of instructions for the programs on the Internet if you need help.

Good luck and have fun!
