Angewandte Chemie 35/2018: Sustainable Coupling

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, E. Y. Chekmenev et al. review the use of parahydrogen hyperpolarization in biology and medicine. How has this technique been improved over the past decade? In Minireviews, M. Szostak et al. summarize sustainable iron-catalyzed cross-couplings in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, and M. Driess et al. discuss low-temperature molecular precursors for nano-sized inorganic energy materials.

In the Communications section, T. M. Grossmann et al. describe the structure-based design of a bicyclic enzyme through the in situ cyclization of native proteins (see picture). B. Zou et al. succeeded in the pressure-induced emission enhancement, band-gap narrowing, and metallization of halide perovskite Cs3Bi2I9. A. B. Watson et al. report a catalytic enantioselective synthesis of α-chiral azaheteroaryl ethylamines by asymmetric protonation.
