Angewandte Chemie 50/2019: Diamonds Are Forever

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, S. J. Conway et al. review how bromodomain target validation is impacted by chemical and chemical biology techniques in chemical epigenetics. The Minireview deals with the chemical functionalization of nanodiamonds (N. Komatsu et al.), and S. Akkarasamiyo and J. S. M. Samec highlight intermolecular stereospecific substitution of underivatized enantioenriched secondary alcohols by organocatalysis. N. Mercier shares his Viewpoint on materials and terminology for hybrid halide perovskites. In their Guest Editorial, Y. Wu et al. point out the value of basic research, as agreed by the Chinese and German academies of sciences.

In the original research section, C. Boyer et al. present a versatile 3D and 4D printing system based on photocontrolled RAFT polymerization (see picture). P. Schwerdtfeger et al. describe copernicium as a relativistic noble liquid with the aid of first-principles free-energy calculations. W. J. Jang and J. Yun describe a catalytic asymmetric conjugate addition of a borylalkyl copper complex for chiral organoboronate synthesis. D. Gibson et al. expand the arsenal of Pt(IV) anticancer agents with multi-action Pt(IV) complexes bearing bioactive ligands with a hydroxy group.
