Professor Igor Tkatchenko, France, celebrates his 80th birthday on December 4, 2019.

Igor Tkatchenko’s research interests cover organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis. After postdoctoral research with Günther Wilke at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, he worked at the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination, CNRS, Toulouse, France, and at the Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse, CNRS, Villeurbanne, France. He then joined the Institute for Molecular Chemistry (L’Institut de Chimie Moléculaire, ICMUB), University of Bourgogne, France, where he served as Research Director until his retirement.

Igor Tkatchenko served as the General Secretary of the French Chemical Society (Société Chimique de France, SCF), on the EuChemS Executive Board from 2011 to 2015, and is a ChemPubSoc Europe Fellow.
