M. Fontecave et al. discuss water splitting with cobalt catalysts in this issue’s Review. How can such catalysts be developed into photochemical systems and photoelectrochemical cells? J. Xiao and X. Li give an overview of reactive gold α-oxo carbenoid intermediates in the gold-catalyzed functionalization of alkynes. The Highlights deal with the capture and isolation of circulating tumor cells (W. Gao and O. C. Farokhzad) and structure elucidation on the basis of dipolar residual couplings (R. R. Gil).

In the Communications section, A. Schnepf et al. present a tin–silicon cluster as a model compound for the unexpected first-order transition from a singlet biradicaloid to a classically bonded molecule. Y. Huang and M. Sprinzl describe the role of the 2′-OH group of the terminal adenosine of the peptidyl-tRNA and the length of the peptide chain in the peptide synthesis in the ribosome (see picture). S. L. Buchwald et al. succeeded in a mild palladium-catalyzed synthesis of aryl (trifluormethyl)sulfides.
