The Medal, founded in 1953 by Bayer AG, is awarded to scientists who have made an outstanding contribution to promoting chemistry. Gauglitz is awarded for his long-standing and enthusiastic involvement with the GDCh, particularly with the working groups Chemometrics and Chemical and Biological Sensors, as well as the Division of Analytical Chemistry. The Medal was presented at a ceremony on November 23, 2012.

Günter Gauglitz, University of Tübingen Günter Gauglitz studied chemistry at the University of Tübingen, Germany, graduating in 1965. He moved to the State University of Iowa, USA, to gain his Master’s degree before returning to Tübingen for his Ph.D. Gauglitz completed his Habilitation at Tübingen in 1979 and was promoted to Professor of Physical Chemistry there in 1983. Since 1987, he has been Professor of Analytical Chemistry/Informatics at the University of Tübingen.
