In the Communications section, B. Plietker et al. show through a spectroscopic and theoretical study of the complex ferrate [Fe(CO)3(NO)] that this species is not what it seems to be at first glance (see picture). L. M. Campos et al. succeeded in engineering bandgaps through controlled oxidation of polythiophenes. Y. Xia et al. present a mass spectroscopic approach for probing the stability of bioorganic radicals.
