Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

This week, T. N. Grossmann et al. review the design of protein interaction inhibitors. What strategies are available to yield peptidomimetics? The Highlight deals with the reverse installation of alkynes with the EBX reagent (J. Kaschel and D. B. Werz). In her Essay, C. M. Filloux discusses the influence of language on studies about the anomeric effect.

In the Communications section, S. H. Mushrif reports on formyl C–H bond activation by surface lattice oxygen of CuO nanoleaves (see picture). A. Yamada et al. reveal that the superstructure in the metastable intermediate-phase Li2/3FePO4 accelerates the cathode reaction in lithium ion batteries. J. Clayden et al. succeeded in the pseudoephedrine-directed asymmetric α-arylation of α-amino acid derivatives, and O. K. Farha et al. devised a method for the selective photooxidation of a mustard-gas simulant.
