In this issue, S. Passerini et al. review ionic-liquid-based polymer electrolytes for battery applications. How can interactions and performance be tuned in ternary polymer electrolytes? In a Minireview, M. Oestreich summarizes transfer hydrosilylation reactions. In their Essay, C. W. Murray and D. C. Rees discuss organic chemistry for fragment-based drug discovery. The Highlight deals with well-defined, mononuclear bismuth(I) and bismuth(II) compounds (C. Lichtenberg).

In the Communications section, G.-C. Guo et al. describe a semiconductive nanotube array constructed from giant lead–iodine wheel clusters (see picture). A. G. Myers et al. succeeded in the synthesis of D-desosamine and analogs by rapid assembly of 3-amino sugars. I. Marek et al. found how a Brook rearrangement acts as a trigger for the ring opening of strained carbocycles, and A. P. de Silva et al. measured local sodium ion concentrations near micelles with fluorescent photoinduced-electron-transfer sensors.
