In this issue, W. Reutter et al. review metabolic glycoengineering with modified mannosamines. How can modified monosaccharides be incorporated into cells, organs, or animals? In a Minireview, J. Lü and R. Cao summarize the use of porous organic frameworks with extrinsic porosity as a platform for carbon storage and separation. The Highlight deals with the electron microscopy of biorthogonal groups in their ultrastructural context.


In the Communications section, David Lou et al. describe a formation of nanoboxes with an inhomogeneous shell for lithium storage (see picture). D. G. Anderson et al. used sequence-defined oligomers from hydroxyproline building blocks for parallel synthesis applications. Y. Urano et al. succeeded in the detection of LacZ-positive cells in living tissue with single-cell resolution.
