Angewandte Chemie 43/2016: Nobels Old and New

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, T. A. Baillie reviews targeted covalent inhibitors (TCIs) for drug design. What benefits do TCIs offer? In Minireviews, N. Xu et al. summarize high-performance separation membranes made from two-dimensional materials, and Z.-K. Xu et al. discuss Janus membranes for advanced separation. The Highlight deals with beryllium(0) complexes (J. L. Dutton and G. Frenking).

In the Communications section, X. W. D. Lou et al. describe the formation of CoS2 nanobubble hollow prisms for highly reversible lithium storage (see picture). Angewandte board member P. Schwille et al. found protein patterns and oscillations on lipid monolayers and in microdroplets. J. J. Armao and Nobel Laureate J.-M. Lehn describe adaptive chemical networks under non-equilibrium conditions of evaporating droplets, and one of this year’s Laureates B. L. Feringa et al. developed a direct and versatile synthesis of red-shifted azobenzenes.
