Special Issue: Theoretical Chemistry in China

Unlike other subfields in chemistry, theoretical chemistry in China only started taking its first steps in the 1950s. Nonetheless, due to the constant commitment of generations of theoretical chemists, there have been impressive achievements over the years.

The International Journal of Quantum Chemistry has dedicated three consecutive issues to theoretical chemistry research in China. Edited by Wenjian Liu and Weihai Fang from Peking University and Beijing Normal University, respectively, the issues comprise invited perspectives, reviews, and software news and updates. They represent a quintessential sampling of the most recent achievements and progresses in this modern branch of chemistry in China.

About the International Journal of Quantum Chemistry

Since its first formulation, quantum chemistry has provided the conceptual and terminological framework necessary to understand atoms, molecules and condensed matter. Over the past decades, synergistic advances in the methodological developments, software, and hardware have transformed quantum chemistry into a truly interdisciplinary science that has expanded beyond its traditional core of molecular sciences to fields as diverse as chemistry and catalysis, biophysics, nanotechnology, and materials science.

The International Journal of Quantum Chemistry reflects the broad interests of today’s quantum chemistry research community, providing a dedicated forum for rapidly reporting breakthroughs in the development and application of quantum mechanical concepts in chemistry, physics, biology and materials science.

The International Journal of Quantum Chemistry publishes an exciting mix of comprehensive reviews, visionary perspectives, instructive tutorials, and high-impact rapid communications and full papers that represent the gamut of the field of quantum chemistry, from theory to simulations to applications.

In addition to regular issues, the journal publishes topical issues, often featuring content commissioned through a process of selection and invitation by special Guest Editors.
