Bayer outlined its vision for the future of agriculture. The company reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation to help ensure the world’s rapidly growing population can be fed without starving the planet. In general, digital transformation is one of the driving forces. Smart IT technologies assist farmers and allow them to look in a new way at their fields. Farms are becoming tightly controlled operations. The idea is to help farmers grow more with less and by this help ensure adequate access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food.

The Climate Corporation, a subsidiary of Bayer, commercially launched its Climate FieldView™ app in Europe. It is currently available in the App Store in France, Germany, Ukraine, Romania, Italy, and Spain as well as in the United States, Canada, and Brazil. It allows farmers to collect and visualize field data, analyze and evaluate crop performance, and manage their field variability through customized fertility and seeding plans to optimize crop productivity.

Climate is currently delivering smallholder farmers in India agronomic information and advice through a pilot launch of FarmRise™ Mobile Farm Care. The company says the app helps farmers to sustainably improve productivity. The company intends to broadly launch the app in India in 2019, with additional expansion plans in the future for Asia, Africa, and South America.

Bayer underlines its strong commitment to transparency. By giving access to safety relevant crop protection studies, the company wants to explain what lies behind the registration of a crop protection product and how the safety of such a product is tested.
