Since 1980, the population of people 60 years of age and older has doubled and will reach 2 billion by 2050, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Then this age group will outnumber children up to 15 years of age – a shift that brings complex healthcare challenges.


Novartis experts and 60 selected students from leading international universities discuss at the International Biotechnology Leadership Camp (BioCamp) in Basel, Switzerland, challenges of a growing aging population. Discussion topics include the company's regenerative medicine programs and the impact of aging on eye health.
The interactive program helps students to understand trends and challenges in the biotechnology and life-sciences sectors. They also receive first-hand experience about starting and running a biotech company and the BioCamp allows students to explore career opportunities in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries and to network with talented students from other countries.
