Deconvolving Contributions to Decoherence in Molecular Electron Spin Qubits: A Dynamic Ligand Field Approach

Published: 18 May 2021

Author(s): Ruben Mirzoyan, Nathanael P. Kazmierczak, Ryan G. Hadt

Abstract In the past decade, transition metal complexes have gained momentum as electron spin‐based quantum bit (qubit) candidates due to their synthetic tunability and long achievable coherence times. The decoherence of magnetic quantum states imposes a limit on the use of these qubits for quantum information technologies, such as quantum computing, sensing, and communication. With rapid recent development in the field of molecular quantum information science, a variety of chemical design...

A simple and rapid HPLC method for determination of parabens and their degradation products in pharmaceutical dosage forms

Published: 18 May 2021

Author(s): Lakshmi Narasimha Rao Katakam, Santhosh Kumar Ettaboina, Thirupathi Dongala

Abstract A stability‐indicating HPLC method was developed for the simultaneous determination of paraben mixture and its degradation products in effervescent potassium chloride tablets. The chromatographic separation was achieved on a Waters Cortecs C18 column (2.7 μm, 4.6 × 150 mm) using gradient elution. The optimized mobile phase consisted of 0.1% orthophosphoric acid in purified water as solvent A and purified water, acetonitrile, and orthophosphoric acid (100:900:1, v/v) as solvent B. The...

Integrative metabolic profile of myelodysplastic syndrome based on UHPLC–MS

Published: 18 May 2021

Author(s): Yunxia Yuan, Jing Zhao, Taifeng Li, Zhengchao Ji, Ying Xin, Siyao Zhang, Feng Qin, Longshan Zhao

Abstract Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a neoplastic disease originating from hematopoietic stem cells. Currently, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is the most effective cure, although lenalidomide, azacytidine, and decitabine have been applied to relieve symptoms of MDS. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes in endogenous metabolites by applying a UHPLC–MS (ultra–high‐performance liquid chromatography–MS) metabolomics approach and to investigate metabolic...

Establishment of a post‐race biomarkers database and application of pathway analysis to identify potential biomarkers in post‐race equine plasma

Published: 18 May 2021

Author(s): Kohei Ohnuma, Taiga Uchida, Gary Ngai‐Wa Leung, Toshiki Ueda, Taku Obara, Hideaki Ishii

Abstract In the context of doping control, conventional direct chemical testing detects only a limited scope of target substances in equine biological samples. To expand the ability to detect doping agents and their detection windows, metabolomics has recently become a common approach for monitoring alteration of biomarkers caused by doping agents in relevant metabolic pathways. In horse racing, remarkable changes in metabolic profiles between the rest state and racing are likely to affect the...

Transparent and toughening epoxy thermosets modified by linear telechelic polymer containing rigid spiroacetal moieties: Uncovering the relationship between the heterogeneous crosslinked network and thermoset performances

Published: 18 May 2021

Author(s): Yaochen Zheng, Peng Song, Shaoxiang Liu, Mengqing Wu, Hui Xu, Chenghui Qiao, Jian Liu, Zhengguo Gao, Qingfu Ban

Abstract Spiroacetal moieties containing linear telechelic polymers (LTPs) with two terminal epoxy groups were facilely synthesized via the successive thiol‐ene and thiol‐epoxy click additions. The LTPs were incorporated into epoxy matrix to fabricate the transparent and toughening thermosets. In term of the miscibility of epoxy with the adduct of ethanedithiol and 3,9‐divinyl‐2,4,8,10‐tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecane (BTU), it is proposed that the size of the formed nanostructures was small enough...

Simple structured and highly efficient passive T‐type micromixer with circumferential in‐step at entry

Published: 18 May 2021

Author(s): Manoj Dundi, Raju V. R. K., Chandramohan V. P.

Abstract Many micromixing applications require simple structured passive mixers rather than complex structured passive or expensive active mixers. However, mixing quality in a typical simple structured passive mixer remains poor. In the present work, simple T‐type micromixer is modified with a circumferential in‐step at the entry of inlet channels to generate velocity components oblique to the mainstream inlet flow. The performance of T and T–T mixers with and without circumferential in‐step...

Thermal conversion behavior and nitrogen‐containing gas products evolution during co‐pyrolysis of cow manure and coal: A thermal gravimetric analyzer/differential scanning calorimetry–mass spectrometer investigation

Published: 18 May 2021

Author(s): Meng Ma, Yonghui Bai, Jiaofei Wang, Xudong Song, Weiguang Su, Fuchen Wang, Guangsuo Yu

Abstract The kinetics and thermal behaviors of cow manure (CM) and Meihuajing bituminous coal (MHJ) blending from room temperature to 950°C were investigated by thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA) coupled with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and mass spectrometer (MS). TG curves show that the high heating rate accelerates thermal decomposition rate, and the position of differential thermal gravity (DTG) peaks shifts to a higher temperature. Owing to the heat transfer limitation...

Targeting 2‐arachidonoylglycerol signalling in the neurobiology and treatment of depression

Published: 18 May 2021

Author(s): Kennia M. Silveira, Gregers Wegener, Sâmia R. L. Joca

Abstract The endocannabinoid 2‐arachidonoylglycerol (2‐AG) is an atypical neurotransmitter synthesized on demand in response to a wide range of stimuli, including exposure to stress. Through the activation of cannabinoid receptors, 2‐AG can interfere with excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission in different brain regions and modulate behavioural, endocrine and emotional components of the stress response. Exposure to chronic or intense unpredictable stress predisposes to maladaptive...

Selective adsorption and separation of dyes from aqueous solution by a zirconium‐based porous framework material

Published: 18 May 2021

Author(s): Shifang Jia, Sufang Song, Xudong Zhao

A water‐stable zirconium‐based metal–organic framework, MOF‐808, has been applied in selective adsorption and separation of the dyes (anionic fluorescein sodium [FS] and cationic rhodamine B [RhB]). Single‐component adsorption experiments indicate the superior adsorption of FS with a maximum adsorption capacity of 480.2 mg g−1, almost four times of the capacity for RhB. Further separation study shows that separation of these dyes can be achieved at a wide pH range of 3.5–8.5 and continuous...
