Synthesis and Structure of Tin and Germanium Complexes as Precursors Containing Alkoxyaminoalkoxide Ligands for Thin Film Transistors

Published: 26 May 2020

Author(s): Ga Yeon Lee, Ji Hun Lee, Seong Ho Han, Bo Keun Park, Seung Uk Son, Chang Gyoun Kim, Dong Ju Jeon, Taek‐Mo Chung

This paper describes the preparation of four novel Sn and Ge complexes containing alkoxyaminoalkoxide type ligands {L1H = 1‐[methoxy(methyl)amino]‐2‐methylpropan‐2‐ol; L2H = 1‐[methoxy(methyl)amino]‐2‐methylbutan‐2‐ol} for potential use as precursors for thin film transistors. All compounds were prepared at room temperature by stirring a solution containing Sn(btsa)2 [btsa = bis(trimethylsilyl)amide] or Ge(btsa)2 with two equivalents of L1H or L2H to form Sn(L1)2 (1), Sn(L2)2 (2), Ge(L1)2 (3)...

Design of Hydrazone‐Modified 1,8‐Naphthalimides as Fluorogenic Click Probes Based on Nitrile Imine‐Alkyne Cycloaddition

Published: 26 May 2020

Author(s): Xiang Li, Yongcheng Wang, Hong Yang, Dali Yin, Yulin Tian

We designed four 4‐hydrazone‐1,8‐naphthalimides as novel fluorogenic click probes, from which the in situ generated nitrile imines react with bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne through strain‐promoted 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition. The resulting pyrazole cycloadducts were found to be highly fluorescent with compelling photophysical properties, including large stokes shift (up to 152 nm), high fluorescence quantum yields (up to 0.85), and notable fluorescence enhancement (up to 196.9‐fold). Density functional...

Diiminepyridine‐Supported Phosphorus(I) and Phosphorus(III) Complexes: Synthesis, Characterization, and Electrochemistry

Published: 26 May 2020

Author(s): Paul A. Gray, Jason D. Braun, Naser Rahimi, David E. Herbert

Diiminepyridines (DIP) are popular redox “non‐innocent” ligands with widespread application in late, first‐row transition metal mediated catalysis and coordination chemistry. Here, we report the isolation and characterization of a pair of phosphorus coordination complexes in the +1 and +3 oxidation states supported by the same ligand framework bearing sterically imposing and electron‐releasing tBu substituents on the imine carbons of the DIP backbone. Electrochemical analysis demonstrates that...

Head‐to‐Tail Dimerization of 4‐Fluoroacetophenone in the KOH/DMSO Superbase Suspension and Related SNAr Reaction

Published: 26 May 2020

Author(s): Ivan A. Bidusenko, Elena Yu. Schmidt, Igor' A. Ushakov, Vladimir B. Orel, Damir Z. Absalyamov, Nadezhda M. Vitkovskaya, Boris A. Trofimov

The head‐to‐tail autocondensation of 4‐fluoroacetophenone in the KOH/DMSO superbase suspension stops on dimerization step affording 4‐acetylbenzyl‐4'‐fluorophenylketone in 96 % yield. Further condensation of the diketone formed is prevented by a weaker electron‐withdrawing effect of enolate spacer, –CH=C(OK)–. 2‐Fluoro‐ and 3‐fluoroacetophenones are inactive in this reaction. Other superbases of the type MOR/DMSO (M = Na, K; R = H, OBut) are inferior in promotion of this reaction providing...

Iridium Carbene and Carbamoyl Complexes Supported by a Tetradentate Pyridine‐Carboxamide Ligand

Published: 26 May 2020

Author(s): Kai‐Hong Wong, Wai‐Man Cheung, Herman H. ‐Y. Sung, Ian D. Williams, Wa‐Hung Leung

The nucleophilic attack of an IrIII isocyanide complex bearing a tetradentate pyridine‐carboxamide ligand with amines to give carbene and carbamoyl complexes has been studied. The treatment of Na[Ir(bpb)Cl2] {bpb2– = dianion of 1,2‐bis(2‐pyridinecarboxamido)benzene} with PR3 (R = p‐tolyl) in refluxing glycol gave [Ir(bpb)(PR3)Cl] (1). Chloride abstraction of 1 with silver tosylate (AgOTs) led to isolation of a mixture of [Ir(bpb)(PR3)(OTs)] (2a) and [Ir(bpb)(PR3)(H2O)](OTs) (2b) that reacted...

Renewable RGO@CuI Nanocomposites for Redox Triggered Single Electron Transfer (SET) Reaction Under Aerobic and Anaerobic Conditions

Published: 25 May 2020

Author(s): Upasana Gulati, U. Chinna Rajesh, Diwan S. Rawat

Abstract Renewable mineral derived nanocatalysts are of special interest to accomplish green and sustainable goals with unique advantages over homogeneous catalysts such as recyclability, robustness, superior activity and minimum waste generation. Here, we synthesized reduced graphene oxide supported copper iodide (RGO@CuI) nanocomposites from renewable malachite mineral derived RGO@CuO precursor by treatment with NH2OH and KI in water. The characterization results reveal the role of RGO...

Effects of Solid Electrolyte Interphase Components on the Reduction of LiFSI over Lithium Metal

Published: 25 May 2020

Author(s): Ethan P. Kamphaus, Stefany Angarita Gomez, Xueping Qin, Minhua Shao, Perla B. Balbuena

Abstract The use of a lithium metal anode still presents a challenging chemistry and engineering problem that holds back next generation lithium battery technology. One of the issues facing lithium metal is the presence of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer that forms on the electrode creating a variety of chemical species that change the properties of the electrode and is closely related to the formation and growth of lithium dendrites. In order to advance the scientific progress of...

Raman Optical Activity of Glucose and Sorbose in Extended Wavenumber Range

Published: 25 May 2020

Author(s): Vladimír Palivec, Pavel Michal, Josef Kapitán, Hector Martinez‐Seara, Petr Bouř

Abstract Raman optical activity (ROA) is pursued as a promising method for structural analyses of sugars in aqueous solutions. In the present study, experimental Raman and ROA spectra of glucose and sorbose obtained in an extended range (50–4000 cm−1) are interpreted using molecular dynamics and density functional theory, with the emphasis on CH stretching modes. A reasonable theoretical basis for spectral interpretation was obtained already at the harmonic level. Anharmonic corrections led to...

Arylboronic Acids and their Myriad of Applications Beyond Organic Synthesis

Published: 25 May 2020

Author(s): Noemi de Jesus Hiller, Nayane Abreu do Amaral e Silva, Thais Apolinário Tavares, Robson Xavier Faria, Marcos Nogueira Eberlin, Daniela de Luna Martins

Boron organometallic compounds are mainly known for their great value in organic synthesis to construct biaryls in Suzuki couplings, for arylations of olefins, for C–S, C–O, and C–N couplings or as organometallic catalysts. Herein, using arylboronic acids (Ar‐B(OH)2) as a illustrative case, we review the applications of these highly versatile molecules which expands much beyond their commonly perceived uses. Seeing primarily as “mere” intermediates in organic synthesis and organometallic...
