Structure and lithium‐ion mobility in Li1.5M0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 (M = Ga, Sc, Y) NASICON glass‐ceramics

Published: 25 January 2020

Author(s): Igor d'Anciães Almeida Silva, Adriana M. Nieto‐Muñoz, Ana Candida M. Rodrigues, Hellmut Eckert

Abstract This work reports structural and lithium‐ion mobility studies in NASICON single‐ or multiple phase Li1+xMxGe2−x(PO4)3 (M = Ga3+, Sc3+, Y3+) glass‐ceramics using solid‐state NMR techniques, X‐ray powder diffraction, and impedance spectroscopy. X‐ray powder diffraction data show the successful incorporation of Ga3+ and Sc3+ into the Ge4+ octahedral sites of the NASICON structure at the levels of x = 0.5 and 0.4, respectively. The glass‐to‐crystal transition was further characterized by...

Intrinsic second‐order nonlinearity in chalcogenide glasses containing HgI2

Published: 25 January 2020

Author(s): Andrey Tverjanovich, Evgenii N. Borisov, Mohammad Kassem, Pascal Masselin, Daniele Fontanari, Eugene Bychkov

Abstract Frequency conversion using nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals is widely used in advanced photonic technologies to produce coherent light in the spectral regions where the available laser sources are missing. Isotropic glasses usually do not show second order nonlinear processes like second harmonic or difference frequency generation (SHG, DFG) except for temporarily induced anisotropy under external stimuli. Here, we show that a HgI2–Ga2S3–GeS2 homogeneous glass exhibits a strong...

ERp29 affects the migratory and invasive ability of human extravillous trophoblast HTR‐8/SVneo cells via modulating the epithelial‐mesenchymal transition

Published: 25 January 2020

Author(s): Shaohan Zou, Ruirui Dong, Ping Zou, Xina Meng, Ting Zhang, Liang Luo, Na Li, Yao Wang, Jing Wang, Tiejun Wang, Yan Zhang, Minjian Chen, Conghua Zhou, Fei Han

Abstract Dysfunction of trophoblast metastasis into the endometrium is the main cause of pre‐eclampsia (PE); however, the factors affecting this process are still unclear. In this study, we found that endoplasmic reticulum protein 29 (ERp29), one molecular chaperone of the endoplasmic reticulum, was aberrantly upregulated in the placenta of pre‐eclamptic patients compared with healthy controls. Then, an in vitro study using human extravillous trophoblast HTR‐8/SVneo cells showed that ERp29...

Characterization of a bacterial copper‐dependent lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase with an unusual second coordination sphere

Published: 25 January 2020

Author(s): Alessia Munzone, Bilal El Kerdi, Mathieu Fanuel, Hélène Rogniaux, David Ropartz, Marius Réglier, Antoine Royant, A. Jalila Simaan, Christophe Decroos

Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are copper‐dependent enzymes involved in the degradation of recalcitrant polysaccharides such as cellulose or chitin. LPMOs act in synergy with glycoside hydrolases such as cellulases and chitinases by oxidatively cleaving a number of glycosidic bonds at the surface of their crystalline substrate(s). Besides their role in biomass degradation, some bacterial LPMOs have been found to be virulence factors in some human and insect pathogens....

A new longipinane ketone from Achillea abrotanoides (Vis.) Vis.: chemical transformation of the essential oil enables the identification of a minor constituent

Published: 25 January 2020

Author(s): Niko S. Radulović, Marko Z. Mladenović, Milenko N. Ristić, Vidoslav S. Dekić, Biljana R. Dekić, Novica R. Ristić

Abstract Introduction Minor plant constituents are difficult to identify due to the challenging isolation and acquiring of reliable spectral data. Essential oils abound in such minor constituents that might be of high importance for their (e.g. olfactory) properties. The presence of new minor constituents is usually inferred from gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC‐MS) analyses that provide only a mass spectrum and retention data, which are insufficient to allow a positive identification....

Highly efficient supported AlCl3‐based cationic catalysts to produce polyα‐olefin oil base stocks

Published: 25 January 2020

Author(s): Sevda Dehghani, Ahad Hanifpour, Mehdi Nekoomanesh‐Haghighi, Samahe Sadjadi, Seyed Amin Mirmohammadi, Ali Farhadi, Naeimeh Bahri‐Laleh

Abstract The main aim of this research is to decrease the amount of AlCl3 content that is very corrosive and hazardous in the catalytic system, required for the α‐olefin oligomerization without substantial change of final oil features. This was successfully achieved by supporting AlCl3 on different carriers. More precisely, a series of supported bimetallic catalysts was synthesized by immobilization of AlCl3 and TiCl4 onto Al2O3, SiO2, and mixed supports, that is, Al2O3/FeCl3 and SiO2/FeCl3....

Abstract The present investigation aimed to characterize the effect of a short‐time treatment with a new thiazolidinedione (TZD) derivative, GQ‐130, on metabolic alterations in rats fed a high‐fat diet (HFD). We investigated whether metabolic alterations induced by GQ‐130 were mediated though a mechanism that involves PPARβ/δ transactivation. Potential binding and transactivation of PPARα, PPARβ/δ or PPARγ by GQ‐130 were examined through cell transactivation, 8‐anilino‐1‐naphthalenesulfonic...
