Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, S. Schlückler reviews concepts and chemical applications of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Specifically, what are the applications in catalysis, spectroelectrochemistry, single-molecule detection, and (bio)analytical chemistry? The Highlights deal with cytochrome P450 reactivity (N. Lehnert et al.) and phosphorus analogues of nitrogen classics (D. Gudat). In an Editorial, K. C. Nicolaou discusses academic–industrial partnerships in drug discovery and development.

In the Communications section, H. T. Soh et al. describe particle display, a quantitative screening method for the generation of high-affinity aptamers (see picture). G. Seidel and A. Fürstner reveal the structure of a reactive gold carbenoid. M. Wagner et al. confirmed the one-electron B–B σ bond by X-ray crystallography, and S. V. Ley et al. succeeded in the acceleration of spirocyclic polyketide synthesis by using flow chemistry.
