Angewandte Chemie 13/2023: Rich Chemistries

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, Zhiyuan Zeng et al. review 2D transition metal dichalcogenides for photocatalysis and Wenjing Hong et al. discuss characterization and applications of supramolecular junctions. The Minireviews deal with synthetic and catalytic applications of electron-rich oxycarbenes beyond group 6 Fischer carbene complexes (Xiao Shen et al.) as well as chemical syntheses of bioactive proteins (Omer Harel, Muhammad Jbara). Highlights point out work towards electrochemiluminescence microscopy of plasmonic-mediated phenomena at the single-nanoparticle level (Leonardo Scarabelli) as well as solid-electrolyte interphase chemistries for high-performance aqueous zinc metal batteries (Wei Zhang, Guanjie He).

In the original research section, Jan J. Weigand et al. describe the selective separation of lithium, magnesium, and calcium using 4-phosphoryl pyrazolones as pH-regulated receptors. Stephen P. Fletcher et al. succeeded in the rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric arylation of cyclobutenone ketals. Osami Shoji et al. present a compound I mimic that reveals the transient active species of a cytochrome P450 enzyme, and provide insight into the stereoselectivity of P450-catalyzed oxidations (see picture). Diego M. Andrada et al. found evidence of Al(II) radical addition to benzene.
