Angewandte Chemie 16/2024: Robust and Ultrafast

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, Yingfu Li et al. review the development of aptamers, and Younan Xia et al. summarize research on nanomaterials for biomedical applications. The Minireviews deal with alkene thianthrenation to unlock diverse cation synthons (Zachary K. Wickens et al.), fluorinated radicals in direct CAr–H functionalization of heteroarenes (Dmitry Katayev et al.), as well as nanomaterial–biosystem interactions as decoded by machine learning (Kenry et al.).

In the original research section, Urs Gellrich et al. present an N-heterocyclic quinodimethane, a strong Lewis base with diradical activity. Quan Li et al. obtained robust, ultrafast, and reversible photoswitching in bulk polymers through octupolar molecule design (see picture). Domenica Musumeci et al. directed in vitro selection towards G-quadruplex-forming aptamers to inhibit HMGB1 pathological activity. Bin Xiao et al. describe orthogonal sp3-Ge/B bimetallic modules, their enantioselective construction and enantiospecific cross-coupling.
