ChemPubSoc Europe Newsletter Issue No. 1

Dear Chemist, dear Society Member,

You have heard of ChemPubSoc Europe (CPSE) – great, then this Newsletter brings valuable information for you. If you don’t know yet who is behind CPSE then you should definitely read this Newsletter. Feedback is welcome!

Figure 1 summarizes the evolution of ChemPubSoc Europe, which today is an organization of 16 continental European Chemical Societies. All these societies which serve more than 70,000 members share the obligation to support and advance chemical sciences via publishing:

Figure 1 Evolution of ChemPubSoc Europe and its journals

All started with founding Chemistry – A European Journal. Meanwhile, arising out of 14 national chemistry society journals a collection of 10 highly reputable, innovative top quality society journals has grown plus the electronic magazine ChemViews.
This was done by joining forces with Wiley-VCH, a society publisher since it was founded and owned by chemical societies in 1921. From the start it has been the home of Angewandte Chemie, Chemische Berichte, and Liebigs Annalen.
Today in the editorial offices in Weinheim a unique group of chemists from around the world work seamlessly with representatives of the societies to provide global publishing with a local spirit. The current chairpersons of CPSE’s 10 journals are:
