Creating New Molecules: Research and Entrepreneurship

Professor Peter Bäuerle, University of Ulm, Germany, has received the Emil Fischer Medal from the GDCh (German Chemical Society) for his groundbreaking contributions to in the field of oligothiophenes and other π-systems, with which basics for organic photovoltaics were laid. The GDCh awards the Emil Fischer Medal for outstanding achievements in the field of organic chemistry.

In the video Peter Bäuerle talkes about his research including fun projects and the extremely long road from designing and synthesizing a molecule, to starting a company, and to the finished product. He discusses what it takes to become a successful chemist and future changes in the filed.
