The state of research in synthesis and application of titania nanorods is discussed by P. Schmuki et al. in a Review. How do they perform in fields such as energy, medicine, storage, or the environment? In a Minireview, M. G. Hoesel and N. Budisa describe the in vivo incorporation of multiple noncanonical amino acids into proteins. A chiral N-phosphinyl phosphoramide is the subject of a Highlight by J. N. Johnston. In a Correspondence, K. A. Lyssenko et al. point out how much energy a small error in the assignment of a space group may cost a crystal structure.


In the Communications section, E. M. Carreira et al. present an improved synthesis of efavirenz enabled by asymmetric autocatalysis as well as total syntheses of guanacastepenes N and O. Y. S. Kang et al. show how the surface energy of silver nanoparticles can be tuned by using tetracyanoquinodimethane. G. Buntkowsky et al. reveal the position of the substrate in nickel superoxide dismutase in a model study (see picture).
