Angewandte Chemie 25/2011: Useful Reactions

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this week’s Review, B. S. Bodnar and M. J. Miller demonstrate the utility of nitrosocarbonyl hetero-Diels-Alder reactions in organic syntheses. How can oxazine rings be generated and used in the syntheses of biologically active molecules? In a Minireview, J. Pawliszyn et al. discuss the role of in vivo solid-phase microextraction in metabolomics. The Highlights deal with parent heavy methylenes (S. Inoue and M. Driess) and the prediction of crystal structures (C. W. Lehmann).

In the Communications section, C. Duboc et al. present a fully delocalized mixed-valent dicopper thiolate complex, which serves as a model compound for the CuA center in the respiratory chain (see picture, below). H. Huang et al. describe an enantioselective N-H functionalization of indoles with alpha,beta-unsaturated gamma-lactams. P. V. Braun et al. succeeded in the transfer of preformed three-dimensional photonic crystals onto dye-sensitized solar cells.
