Angewandte Chemie 44/2018: 150 Years of Technische Universität München

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

This issue is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Technische Universität München (TUM) and introduced in a Guest Editorial by long-time TUM President W. A. Herrmann. It features Reviews on intermetalloid clusters (R. A. Fischer et al.), multiple-bonded aluminium compounds (S. Inoue), orally active peptides (H. Kessler), and antibacterials to tackle the resistance crisis (S. A. Sieber et al.).

Minireviews were contributed by T. Bach et al. (chromophore activation of α,β-unsaturated carbonyls), K. Lang et al. (expansion of the genetic code to study protein–protein interactions), and M. Winnacker (pinene building blocks for sustainable polymers). R. Niessner shares a Viewpoint on current trends in analytical chemistry in the light of history.

In the Communications section, C. Hertweck et al. describe a metal-free synthesis of pharmaceutically important biaryls by photosplicing (see picture). M. Sattler et al. used ultrashort broadband cooperative pulses for multidimensional biomolecular NMR experiments. M. Leskelä et al. grew rhenium metal and rhenium nitride films by atomic layer deposition.
