Angewandte Chemie 10/2020: Strategies and Effects

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, H.-M. Cheng et al. review strategies towards low-cost dual-ion batteries with high performance. What roles do kinetics, intercalation, and alloying play? The Minireviews deal with bifunctional metal nanocrystals for catalysis and analytics (S. Shi and D. Qin) and supramolecular photothermal effects for thermal conversion (X. Yan et al.). C. Loenarz et al. highlight the discoveries around cells’ sensing and adaptation to oxygen availability that were rewarded with the 2019 Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology.

In the original research section, F.-S. Han et al. report an enantioselective total synthesis and absolute configuration assignment of (+)-tronocarpine via a Michael/aldol reaction. A. S. S. Wilson et al. found a stable calcium alumanyl. I. Abe et al. exploited a C–N bond forming cytochrome P450 monooxygenase for C–S bond formation (see picture). H. I. Karunadasa et al. observed high compression-induced conductivity in a layered Cu–Br perovskite.
