Angewandte Chemie 22/2020: Fundamental Mechanisms

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, M. Lansalot et al. review RAFT-mediated polymerization-induced self-assembly. What role does radical controlled/living polymerization play? The Minireviews deal with abiotic chemical fuels for molecular machines (C. Biagini, S. Di Stefano) and heavy-atom tunneling in organic reactions (C. Castro, W. L. Karney). C. Wentrup contributes an Essay on the history of olefin π-complexes, and D. Janssen-Müller and M. Oestreich highlight the bismuth-catalyzed C–F coupling of aryl boronic esters.

In the original research section, J. Crassous et al. describe the influence of helicene, halogen, and stereochemistry on the emission properties of helicene-NHC rhenium(II) complexes (see picture). Y. Ge et al. developed high-throughput proteomics enabled by a photocleavable surfactant. N. A. Kotov et al. present diverse nanoassemblies of graphene quantum dots and their mineralogical counterparts. R. M. Bullock et al. studied the mechanism of insertion of carbonyl substrates into Cu–H.
