In this issue, S. Kaskel et al. review porphyrin-based metal–organic frameworks for biomedical applications. C. Yang et al. summarize performance-enhancing approaches for PEDOT:PSS-Si hybrid solar cells. The Minireviews deal with binary (split) light-up aptameric sensors (D. M. Kolpashchikov, A. A. Spelkov) and activity-based sensing probes for isoform-selective imaging of enzymatic activity (J. Chan et al.). In his Guest Editorial, J. Garcia-Martinez presents a roadmap for chemistry in the new decade.

In the original research section, S. R. Waldvogel et al. describe a metal-free electrochemical synthesis of sulfonamides directly from (hetero)arenes, SO2, and amines (see picture). S. Komaba et al. succeeded in the MgO-template synthesis of extremely high capacity hard carbon for Na-ion batteries. S. Ma et al. developed a MOF-based ultra-strong acetylene nano-trap for highly efficient C2H2/CO2 separation. R. M. Rodriguez Sarmiento et al. found novel β-glucocerebrosidase activators that bind to a new pocket at a dimer interface and induce dimerization. T. H. Ware et al. demonstrate 4D-printing of photoswitchable actuators.
