Angewandte Chemie 37/2021 – A Renewable Platform

Author: ChemistryViews

In this issue, L. J. Prins et al. review chemically fueled self-assembly in biology and chemistry, and J. O. Metzger et al. discuss fatty acids and their derivatives as renewable platform molecules for the chemical industry. The Minireview deals with one-dimensional hollow nanostructures for electrochemical energy storage (X. W. D. Lou et al.), and A. Weidenkaff et al. share a holistic view on the development of materials for water electrolysis in a Viewpoint.

In the original research section, B. Zhao et al. describe an asymmetric biomimetic aldol reaction of glycinates and trifluoromethyl ketones by carbonyl catalysis (see picture). M. B. Soellner et al. investigated synergy and antagonism between allosteric and active-site inhibitors of Abl tyrosine kinase. Y. Li et al. succeeded in the in situ implantation of single tungsten sites into defective UiO-66(Zr) in a solvent-free procedure. T. Jacob et al. present the electrodeposition of zinc onto Au(111) and Au(100) from an ionic liquid.
