CO2 emissions related to energy demand has increased by ca. 47 % in the last 20 years. This corresponds to 22.6 billion tons in 1990 and 33 billion in 2010. China is ranked as the largest CO2 producer, emitting 8.3 billion tons. The USA is the second largest producer with 7.2 billion tons.
