Angewandte Chemie 37/2014: Amazing Stories

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, S. Mecking et al. review the utility of post-metallocene catalysts in the industrial production of polyolefins. What are the decisive properties for the success of a given catalyst structure? S. García-Gallego and G. J. L. Bernardes discuss molecules for the in vivo delivery of therapeutic amounts of carbon monoxide. The Highlight deals with the astonishing career of mesoionic münchnones (H.-U. Reissig and R. Zimmer).

In the Communications section, R. J. Hamers et al. explain the selective photoelectrochemical reduction of aqueous CO2 to CO by solvated electrons (see picture). E. Borguet et al. succeeded in the preparation of orientation-controlled single-molecule junctions. M. Müller et  al. report on the role of hydronaphthoquinone tautomers in biosynthesis, and H. Sun et al. show how to easily construct 1,3-oxazinan-4-ones in three-component cycloadditions.
