The Pierre Süe Prize (Grand Prix Pierre Süe) 2014 has been awarded to Michel Ephritikhine, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), France, and Claude Mirodatos, Claude Bernard University Lyon 1, France, by the Société Chimique de France (SCF, French Chemical Society). The prize recognizes French chemists whose work is acclaimed on an international level. It was presented during a ceremony on May 21, 2015, in Paris, France.

Professor Ephritikhine is honored for his outstanding contribution to the organometallic chemistry of lanthanides and actinides. Professor Mirodatos receives the award for his original approach to heterogeneous catalysis.

Michel Ephritikhine
obtained his Ph.D. for work under the supervision of Jacques Levisalles in 1975, followed by post-doctoral research with M. L. H. Green, Oxford University, UK. In 1984, he joined CEA-Saclay, Gif-sur-Yvette, France.

Professor Ephritikhine focuses on the chemistry of f elements (actinides in particular) and organometallic complexes of these elements. At CEA, he founded and leads a research team interested in the synthesis, characterization and properties of organometallic complexes of f elements.

Claude Mirodatos
received his Ph.D. in 1977 at the Claude Bernard University Lyon 1, France. He then performed postdoctoral studies at the University of Edinburgh, UK, with Charles Kemball. He currently works at the Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse et l'Environnement de Lyon (IRCELYON, Institute of Researches on Catalysis and Environment) in the Department for Engineering and Process Intensification, which he directed until 2011.

Claude Mirodatos is an expert in heterogeneous catalysis who works on the identification and control of active sites and on methodological developments in catalyst design. He does not only work on model systems, but also on reactions and processes of industrial interest, such as the reforming of bio-ethanol or catalytic cracking.
